OUR PILLARS

Here, sustainability is divided into 4 fronts, forming the acronym EESG (Employees, Environment, Social and Governance), prioritizing our employees in the organizational strategy.

Based on a diagnosis of the impacts of our activities on each of the audiences, we chose eight material themes, allocated in the axes of the Aura 360 Culture mandala, represented by each of the three colors.

Workers' safety and health

Health and safety are our absolute priorities, before we even think about any aspect of our business’ results. Our goal is “zero incidents”, developing and maintaining best practices for health and safety and compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and references.

Here, the management of the Aura Integrated Management System (SIGA, in Portuguese), which includes clear guidelines in the accident prevention and in the quest for a safe work environment, is carried out with the monitoring of committees that bring together professionals from all organizational levels periodically and the guidelines apply to all Aura employees, direct or otherwise.

We value our employees and seek to recognize their achievements, promote training, balance between personal and professional life and having a good working environment, seeking to foster a diverse environment.

Our focus within this pillar is on development of opportunities to increase the participation of women in our workforce functional – including operations, working on career and succession plans for our professionals, training programs and quality of life and well-being projects. Aura is signatory to the Women in Mining movement in all the countries in which it operates.

Water and effluents

Water and effluents

We are committed to ensuring the sustainable use of water in our operations, preserving the environment and respecting the human right to this vital input. In order to achieve that, we have discussions on the subject in the Health, Safety and Environment Committee, responsible for the development of short and medium term goals and projects, such as the calculation and management of the water footprint of the operations and the strengthening of the integral management of water resources in communities.

Management of geotechnical structures

Aura has its own corporate management system which is based on the legal issues of each country and best market practices. This management system sets from the training of field personnel to necessary instrumentation, control parameters and technical reports. Monthly, the data is presented to the Corporate Committee of Safety, Health and Environment for guidance. The plan also considers the area allocation of structures (dam break) and emergency measures contained in the Plan of Emergency Service (PAE). Simulations are carried out to ensure the effectiveness of action in case of emergency.

Climate change

At Aura, we are working on initiatives to expand the use of renewable energies in our operations, energy efficiency projects and monitoring our emissions in a constant and automated manner.

Aura has a low-emission profile when compared to the average gold mining company according to the World Gold Council. Despite its positive performance, Aura committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 5% at its current operations units until 2023.

Communities (human rights)

We published our Human Rights Policy in 2021, reiterating our commitment to carry out our activities in a manner consistent with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the laws of the countries where we operate, the Guiding Principles on UN Business and Human Rights, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, as well as the concept of Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) regarding all indigenous people and the local and traditional communities that live near our units.

Innovation for sustainability

Innovation is one of the core values of the Aura 360 culture, as it is an essential requirement for maintaining growth plans in a sustainable manner. Therefore, we encourage innovation in several initiatives:

Innovation Award

Every year, we internally carry out the Innovation Award, which recognizes and rewards theideas, projects and initiatives submitted by employees, fostering excellence in everything what we do.

Partnership with Mining Hub

Aura Minerals has a partnership with Mining Hub, the world’s first open innovation hub in the mining sector. On site, several programs are offered, of which the collaborators can participate.

Aura seeks a healthy relationship with all its stakeholders, mapping the impacts and benefits of its activities on each of them, from the preliminary moments to the arrival of a new project, to the closure of the activities of some operation. Part of this effort is in the materiality matrix with the prioritization of action plans to address each of these agendas.

Business model and business' - ethical leadership

Ethical Management is a fundamental value of the Aura 360 Culture, guiding our decision-making, doing the right things the right way, with no shortcuts. Our Ethics Committee is responsible for receiving, evaluating and proposing measures for all complaints received from the company. It is made up of members from different areas, including the CEO, and meets at least once a month.

Created in 2019, Aura’s Ethics Channel is managed by an independent company and is valid for all stakeholders. It guarantees the anonymity of the complaints, which are forwarded directly to the Ethics Committee, responsible for negotiations.
